The Alzheimer Society of Ireland

The Alzheimer Society of Ireland works across the country in the heart of local communities providing dementia specific services and supports and advocating for the rights and needs of all people living with dementia and their carers. Our vision is an Ireland where no one goes through dementia alone and where policies and services respond appropriately to the person with dementia and their carers, at the times they need support.

A national non-profit organisation, The Alzheimer Society of Ireland is person centred, rights-based and grassroots led with the voice of the person with dementia and their carer at its core.

Why we’re supporting The Alzheimer Society of Ireland

The Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland have been Allianz’ Corporate Charity of Choice for the past 3 years and during this time we have built up a strong and meaningful relationship with them. We have collaborated and created together many exciting fundraisers for the Alzheimer’s Society which have been incredibly engaging for both our employees and clients of the Alzheimer’s Society. Last year, for example, on International Volunteering Day, our Allianz Choir visited a Alzheimer Care Centre in Blackrock and had a fantastic time creating a little festive cheer for their clients. It was a very rewarding and fulfilling day for all involved. This year, we are going a step further and will challenge ourselves to take on the 4Peaks of Ireland and for the first time embark on a national fundraising campaign to help raise money and increase the awareness of Alzheimer’s and how it impacts those with the condition, their families and carers who have Alzheimer’s and also highlight the work the Alzheimer Society of Ireland who have established care centres throughout Ireland to support people with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Our employees have witnessed first hand the tremendous care and facilities provided and we wanted to do something to help the Alzheimer Society of Ireland continue to provide the excellent care and services.

About the event

The Allianz ‘Dare to… Trek- 4 Peaks Challenge’ is an adventure of a lifetime for our employees and the ultimate test of fitness, endurance and teamwork which will culminate in a three day challenge taking in the highest peaks in each of the four provinces in Ireland from the 16th to the 18th of June. Beginning at 7am on the 16th of June, the challenge is to complete all peaks by 10pm on the 18th of June.

The Allianz team will be taking on the 4 highest peaks in Ireland which are:

  • Carrauntoohil in County Kerry at 970 metres
  • Mweelrea in County Mayo at 814 metres
  • Slieve Donard in County Down at 850 metres
  • Lugnaquilla in County Wicklow at 925 metres

We are training very hard as a group to build up our fitness and endurance levels to complete this demanding challenge over the coming weeks so that we can raise as much money as we can for the Alzheimer’s Society. Through team work, dedication, guidance and training, and we your help to support this very worth cause, we will complete this challenge with a sense of camaraderie, togetherness and incredible achievement. All funds raised from the Four Peaks Challenge will be donated to the Alzheimer Society of Ireland and our goal is to raise 50,000 euro for a great cause.

Please help us to help the Alzheimer’s Society continue to provide such incredible care and support within our communities nationwide.
